Contact Lenses

Contact lenses offer many advantages. Our specialist contact lens service offers even more.

Contact lenses are ideal for people of all ages who:

  • take part in sports or exercise
  • work in an occupation where glasses can get in the way
  • prefer a discrete option for vision correction
  • need a confidence boost (no-one needs to know you are wearing them…)
  • enjoy being out and about in all weather conditions – no more blurred vision from rain smears!

The dedicated contact lens service we offer in Dorking is led by our contact lens specialist, Karen Chambers, FBDOCL. Karen is a member of the British Contact Lens Association and has been fitting lenses since she qualified in 1993.Karen also provides consultancy services to leading eye health organisations and is a contact lens training consultant.

Most importantly, Karen has been wearing contact lenses herself for more than 30 years – so she brings a wealth of personal experience as well as professional expertise to Emslie and our clients.

All prescriptions welcome!

Whether you’ve recently started wearing contact lenses, or have a complicated contact lens prescription requiring multifocal or bifocal correction you’ll be in the best possible hands at Emslie Optometrists. We offer a truly personalised contact lens service with access to a wide range of products and suppliers.

Considering contact lenses?

Thinking about contact lenses, but haven’t made your mind up yet? Why not book one of our new no obligation pre-assessment appointments, an informal conversation where Karen will be happy to answer any questions you have and provide advice to help you decide.

You can then book an assessment where Karen will carry out a thorough eye examination to check the health and suitability of your eyes, including the size and curvature of your cornea and how well lubricated your eyes are. We can then advise you on the most suitable contact lenses.

In addition to a thorough assessment of the health and condition of your eyes, lashes and lids, your occupational requirements and lifestyle will be taken in to account too. By building up a complete picture of your individual needs, Karen will put a personalised contact lens plan in place for you.

Children’s contact lenses

Our personal experience has shown that children can cope very well with wearing contact lenses. They are a great option for school or college and for hobbies such as sports, cycling, athletics, swimming, gymnastics or dance. In fact, children are proven to be more confident with sports and studies when wearing contact lenses for vision correction.

We’re very happy to answer any questions you may have about contact lenses for your son or daughter and they are welcome to try lenses out for themselves.

Appointments and after-care

Our visual needs change at different stages in our life and so do the optical products we use. At Emslie Optometrists, we offer an extensive selection of contact lenses and provide a very thorough after-care service for contact lens wearers.

To ensure good eye health and comfort, we recommend a regular after-care plan where we check that your lenses are a good fit, as well as examining the health of your eyes. Contact lenses are constantly evolving, so we will also provide you with the most up-to-date information on the latest developments and availability.

Payment plans and postal services

Our contact lens payment plan is an easy and cost-effective way to purchase your lenses and associated products. You will get discounts on other products too. We can discuss an individual payment plan that’s right for you when you call in for your next appointment, or please get in touch on 01306 875201.

We can also send your lenses to you at home or work if you are too busy or too far away to pick them up.
