We create an accurate record of your eye health by carrying out annual eye examinations.
Changes in vision can sometimes be so slight there is no noticeable difference in daily life – but detecting and correcting these changes as early as possible is very important.

During your eye examination, we will also carry out a full eye health check.
As well as looking for early signs of cataracts, glaucoma and other conditions, we can also detect general health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure and vascular disease, should any of these exist.
Because such thorough checks are done each time we examine your eyes, we can build up a full picture of your eye health. This means that if any changes occur, even very minor ones, we can detect them early – leading to swift diagnosis and prompt treatment. And, of course, peace of mind and reassurance.
In addition to our standard thorough eye examinations, we can also carry out specific tests relating to conditions such as visual stress and dyslexia.
Whilst eye problems themselves are not a cause of dyslexia, they may contribute to difficulties in reading and writing. In particular, difficulty in near-vision focusing and poor eye co-ordination are visual problems that seem to occur more frequently in people with dyslexia. Significant improvements in reading and writing can be achieved if underlying problems such as these are identified and treated correctly.
Catherine has undertaken specialist training at the Institute of Optometry to enable her to carry out detailed visual stress investigations. Scientific research has shown that treatment involving the use of special coloured filters or lenses can relieve the symptoms of visual stress by helping the brain to process information more accurately. Catherine has experienced first-hand how symptoms for children who are struggling with reading or writing can be dramatically reduced by using coloured overlays.
If you have any concerns about your child’s reading or writing, please speak with Catherine about pre-overlay and coloured overlay vision assessments.
If you are under the age of 16, under 19 in full-time education or over 60, you are entitled to a free NHS eye examination which we will be pleased to carry out for you.
NHS eye examinations are also available if you have conditions such as glaucoma and diabetes.
Just get in touch by phone or email, or pop in to see us and we’ll be happy to provide further details.
